Modern Day Moonshine $2 Tacos 8pm until Midnight. $2 Rolling Rocks & $2.50 Beer of the Month!!! Modern Day Moonshine is a San Diego, CA. based funky, jazz band consisting of: Todd Goodnough: guitar, vocals, and songwriter Orion Boucher: Bass, and back up vocals D.J. Bonin: Drums, vocals "People always ask what we play. Best I can think of is somewhere between Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and the Allman Brothers." - B With a catalog of original songs that reaches well into the hundreds, MDM jump genres and fuse styles on a dime, all while maintaining a distinct soulful sound that can only be identified as their own. Over the course of 6 years, over 600 gigs, and 4 studio albums, the trio have developed a sound that calls on the soulful sounds of the greats from the late sixties and early seventies. With an ever-growing arsenal of material, MDM launched the MDM Bootleggers in late 2010 to coincide with the release of their 4th studio album, 'Refuge' (Ripple Music). The opt-in fan list allows fans to receive a weekly link to a previously unreleased MDM song, along with a synopsis of that tune as well as a chance to win MDM gear. 'Refuge' continues to receive rave reviews and strong independent radio support. One review offered the best summary of MDM to date: ‘Despite the variety of styles, one doesn't get the impression that you listen to more than only one band. MODERN DAY MOONSHINE have a strong identity, resulting in an extremely cohesive album. The opener 'Unsung' brings back memories of Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, but the following track 'Expiration Date' is heading in a different direction. It's a powerful combination of funk and jazz where they prove that they easily master both styles. For these reasons, MODERN DAY MOONSHINE doesn't sound like a white band who are trying to imitate a black funk band.’ - cosmiclava.com... See MoreSee Less

Blasting Idiots

Aug 6, 10:00pm - Aug 7, 3:00am

Mother's Saloon

San Diego, CA  92107 Map

Blasting Idiots aka The Blast Blasting Idiots aka The Blast Party Rock from the Vault to the Billboard . What’s in a name? That which we call the band by any other name, it would still be - Blasting Idiots. The group came together circa 2004 looking to entertain and be entertained. It seems some, with a more solemn perspective, were a tad flummoxed by the name. So the group adopted the more affable, less mordant moniker, the Blast. The group, however you choose to address them, is a collection of former working musicians, too young to rest, too old to keep touring, and too deaf to know the difference. The group sports a corpulent collection of driving yet danceable rock songs from the vault to the Billboard, and beyond. What’s more, with both male and female vocals, the group is able to cover a teaming array of tunes which can be tailored for your special event. Rest assured, this band is one rustling, bustling, animated, energetic, zeppy, peppy, chirrupy crew.... See MoreSee Less
